We want to build a new transportation modality.
Airplanes are fast and expensive. Ships are slow and cheap. For the last 60 years, They are the only two choices available to transport people and cargo across the world. We want to change that. We are building ground effect crafts that are fast and affordable. Our aim to take people and cargo anywhere across the globe within a day, for less than $100.
Brilliant engineers have attempted to build this before and failed to make this a reality. Russians attempted this in the 1960s. Boeing tried this in early 2000s. It is an extremely difficult technical challenge to take-off and control this craft in rough weathers, to an extent where it’s impossible for humans to control this craft. The folks who tried to build this came to wrong conclusions and didn’t pursue it further. But in the last 20 years, compute+sensors have tremendously improved; composites manufacturing is practical; electric propulsion has been proven.
We believe that it is possible today to build 3000-tonne ground effect crafts to fly across the pacific and atlantic, that are 10x cheaper than airplanes and 10x faster than ships.
We are a small team, recent grads from IITM, IITB and other colleges, who previously built formula-style race cars, solar cars, autonomous rovers to compete at international challenges.
In the last 6 months we have built and flown a sub-scale prototype. We are currently moving as fast as humanly possible to build the 3 tonne craft and test it in the sea.
