Role Description

Handling the complete mechanical design and manufacturing of a 1 tonne ground effect vehicle. We will take inspiration from both the aircraft manufacturing and ship construction worlds.

What you will do

• Deep understanding of the load conditions for aerodynamics & hydrodynamics from first principle analysis
• Design robust actuation mechanisms for moving parts of the craft (such as hydrofoil retraction and control surfaces)
• Close the feedback loop on design-manufacture-test and increase iteration velocity by selecting the right material & manufacturing process
• Packaging of the propulsion, avionics & energy subsystems

What we expect

• We don’t expect you to have built an aircraft/ship as such, but strong fundamentals on composites and structural analysis is a required
• Ideally you should’ve built either a boat or a plane >100kg size with composites & metal
